SAND Game Modes Guide

SAND: Raiders of Sophie is built around extraction pressure. Mode choice changes what you should practice, how much risk you should accept, and how quickly a crew should bank progress.

Voyage ModeUse this as the lower-pressure place to learn Trampler handling, route timing, resource value, and basic crew calls.
Storm DiveUse this when the crew understands exits, is willing to meet higher pressure, and has a clear loot target.
Custom TramplerMode choice should match the walking base you built: storage for hauling, mobility for scouting, defense for contested routes.
Exit disciplineThe best mode is the one where the crew can name the exit condition before entering.

How to Choose a Mode

  1. Pick Voyage Mode when the crew is learning controls, timing, or route layout.
  2. Pick Storm Dive only after the crew has a clear loot goal and a retreat rule.
  3. Do not use high-risk mode to test a brand-new Trampler build.
  4. Review the run by asking whether the mode matched the crew's actual confidence.
Practical rule: if the crew cannot explain why it is entering Storm Dive, stay in a lower-risk learning loop.
